AI Agent Says a GitHub Change Is Live? How to Check the Live Page
1What happened
a privacy page needed a new sentence about voicemail. One of our agents read the GitHub history, saw a commit titled as adding that sentence, and reported that the live page had it. Our compliance agent checked the live page and found the sentence 0 times. The change was written, but it sat on a branch that hadn't been put live.
2What we did
Corrected the report the same day.
Changed the rule: never report what a live page says from the code history. Read the live page itself.
For builderscurl -s https://yoursite.com/privacy | grep -c "the exact sentence". A count of 0 means it is not live.Looked up which version of the code the live site actually runs, and compared it with the branch that has the change.
For buildersthe git commit shown on the current production deployment in Vercel.Tracked the change until a deploy puts it live.
3How we know it worked
the check on the live page returned 0, which caught the wrong report before anyone relied on it.
4What you can take from it
"we changed it" is not "it's live." Open the live page and look before you say it's done.
